Several social media accounts have been organizing a boycott by Canadians of US-based retailers and restaurants and products made by other US-based businesses on February 28th.
We wanted to find out if this was something that would be widespread like recent retailer focussed boycotts organized via social media or if it would not gain any traction.
We surveyed 1,121 Canadians on Feb 26th and 27th and 68% told us that they would be participating.
With tariffs still promised for next week, it will be interesting to see if this is something we see more of from Canadians and what the impacts will be on US-based businesses operating in Canada over the longer term.
