This past Friday, Sobeys eliminated the single use plastic bag from its stores across Canada, taking a big step to support the environment and joining a growing trend towards the reduction of single use plastics ranging from bags to forks to drinking straws.
According to the
Sobeys Website the initiative will take 225 million bags per year out of the waste stream. The stores now offer a range of more sustainable options including cloth / reusable bags, paper bags and sturdy plastic totes to help shoppers get their groceries home.
