Staffing retail stores is a tough job and there is constantly a demand for new employees as staff leave to find greener pastures (or are let go because they do not make the cut).
This is even more difficult in tough job markets like those in Alberta & Saskatchewan and is likely to get worse given the new restrictions on the Temporary Foreign Worker program.
While at a Kent Building Supplies store in St. John’s, NL (a surprisingly tight job market) we spotted this sign encouraging older workers to apply for positions in-store.
This is a great play as retired persons are a stable workforce who are relatively untapped for their Life Experience in retail positions. As the population gets older there will be more opportunities for retailers to tap into their potential!
