This past Saturday marked the Chinese New Year – one of the most important holidays (and eating events) in Chinese culture.

This year is the Year of the Rooster and one of the most recognizable roosters in the grocery store, the Kellogg’s Corn Flakes mascot is celebrating with specially designed cereal boxes.

This is a great example of how “mainstream” brands are starting to wake up to the potential of ethnic marketing given that 20% of Canadians were born outside Canada with Chinese-Canadians representing one of the biggest groups!
